On the night of Halloween, Gentry [fairy hosts and troops] wage war. The darkened land becomes their battle field.

Place gifts to please any fairy that looks your way, wear masks to seem fearsome, be mischievous to avoid their suspicion.

I’m so excited for Halloween

gardenofthequeen:

if you see fairies on halloween night, you shouldn’t be too surprised if you see the figures of people long dead along side the fairies.

So I decided to read up on the Witches Conical Hat Stereotype. Pointy hats have been used often through out many different time frames and fashion..

Apparently from (x) “It wasn’t until the 1710s and 1720s that children’s chapbooks in England began illustrating supernatural tales with crones in peaked hats. Fueled by the popularity of these “penny merriments,” the stereotype caught on quickly. “

Which later it mentions Mother Goose and her wearing a similar hat. and Mother Goose has been around.. A LONG TIME..

Which…any child generally remembers the Mohter Goose Nursery Rhymes.

Alot of modern witches have taken the stereotype and turned it into something better.

There is alot of controversy over the hat and the nose stereotype that was originally said to be linked to Anti-semeticsm. But there is also a theory that it is about Anti- Quaker.

Honestly from what it looks like.. The Pointed Hat came from 8 billion different directions and alot of what it was originally meant to be has fallen into the cracks of history.

At this point i think its better to add new happy history to the Hat than to keep the stereotype submerged in the hate it already has in its past.

In general I think it should honestly be left to costumes and art..(also its really hard to find a good hat that doesnt look like it came from the halloween section in walmart)

If something was created…..then someone else took it and used it to make fun of someone else..and then over time the mean meaning was lost to history…Then it should be able to be used again for something good…

So..I think..as long as the Pointy Hat is used to represent Witches..and not used to spread Jewish hate…then It should be ok..
